~ Ryan Bisson, Orlando Health Genetics Counselor
Ryan Bisson, MS, CGC is a board-certified genetic counselor. He provides cancer genetic counseling and risk assessment to individuals and families that have a history of cancer.
Ryan holds a bachelor’s degree in molecular genetics from Ohio State University and a master’s degree in genetic counseling from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.
He is certified by the American Board of Genetic Counselors and is a current member of the National Society of Genetic Counselors.
Ryan has given numerous presentations to healthcare professionals, colleges, professional organizations, local television stations and community groups.
~ Alice Spinelli, NP, AOCN
Ms. Spinelli has served as the Cancer Genetics Nurse Practitioner for Cancer Care Centers of Brevard and previously for Health First, both in Melbourne, Florida. The positions included developing hereditary cancer risk assessment programs, providing related counseling and education to individuals with, and at risk for, hereditary cancers and their families. In February 2018 she completed City of Hope’s Intensive Course in cancer genetics and continues as a member of their international cancer genetics community of practice.
A nurse practitioner since 1982, most of her experience has been in gynecologic oncology, working with gynecologic oncology practices in Miami, Georgetown University’s Lombardi Cancer Center in Washington, DC, and most recently in Melbourne, Florida. She is published in peer review journals, lay publications, and authored textbook chapters in the areas of gynecologic cancers. She continues to facilitate a support group and speaks to lay and professional groups on related topics.
Ms. Spinelli earned her Bachelor of Nursing degree from Florida State University, received her Nurse Practitioner Certification from the University of Virginia and obtained her master’s degree in nursing from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
Ms. Spinelli is a past president of the Society of Gynecologic Nurse Oncologists and has served on the board of directors of the American Cancer Society’s local units and the Ovarian Cancer Alliance of Florida. She served on the Scientific and Medical Advisory Board of the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance, now the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance (OCRA), until 2016. Locally, she is president of C.A.R.E (Cancer, Advocacy, Resources and Education), an OCRA affiliate. In 2005 she participated in Merck’s oncology expert input panel for the development of the HPV vaccine.
